Progressive gels
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002972
A characteristic of drilling fluids where the gel strength continues to increase over time when the fluid is static. This property indicates a continuous flocculation of solids within the mud, which can lead to excessive pressures when restarting circulation after a shut-down. Such gels are often associated with high solids content or contamination in the drilling fluid.
