Progressive cavity pumping system
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002971
An artificial lift system in which a helical steel rotor turns eccentrically inside a fixed elastomer-lined helical stator, moving fluid in sealed cavities up the tubing. It suits heavy viscous crude and fluids carrying sand or other solids, and it delivers smooth, non-pulsating flow at low rotational speeds. Free gas and high temperature are limits because they overheat and damage the elastomer.
