Flat gels
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001454
A condition in a drilling fluid where the 10-minute and 10-second gel strength readings are nearly identical. This indicates that the mud's gelling structure forms almost instantly and does not strengthen significantly over time. Flat gels are desirable because they show the fluid is stable and will not develop excessively high gel strengths during static periods, which could complicate breaking circulation.
