Homogeneity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004353
The uniformity of physical properties throughout a rock volume, such as a reservoir. A perfectly homogeneous formation would have the same porosity, permeability, and mineral composition at every point, an idealization not found in nature. Geologists and engineers assess the degree of homogeneity to predict fluid flow behavior, as variations affect recovery efficiency and well performance.
