Hookwall packer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001849
A retrievable service packer, with the RTTS design as the common example, that is run on tubing, rotated to engage a J-slot, and set by slacking off weight so mechanical slips grip the casing and the packing element seals. Hydraulic hold-down slips resist upward pressure from below. It is reset at other depths with simple tubing movement and released by picking up the string, and it serves for testing, treating and squeeze cementing.
