Stationary slips

A set of gripping elements within a snubbing unit that hold the pipe string in a fixed position while the traveling slips move. These slips are hydraulically actuated and engage the pipe to prevent its upward or downward movement. They work in conjunction with traveling slips to incrementally run or pull tubulars in a live well.
