A unit of speed equal to one international nautical mile per hour, or approximately 0.5144 meters per second. It is primarily used in marine and aeronautical contexts to measure the speed of vessels, including offshore support vessels and drilling rigs during transit. A vessel traveling at 10 knots covers 10 nautical miles in one hour.
