Knockout

A vessel or separator used to separate different phases of fluids, typically gas from liquids, based on density differences. Fluids enter the vessel, and gravity causes the heavier liquid to settle while the lighter gas rises. Knockout drums are a primary piece of equipment in production facilities for initial fluid separation.
