Gas separator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001629
A pressure vessel at the surface designed to separate a produced well stream into its constituent liquid and gaseous components. The separation process relies on gravity, with the heavier liquids (oil and water) settling at the bottom while the lighter gas rises to the top for collection. Separators are classified as two-phase (gas and total liquid) or three-phase (gas, oil, and water).
