Separator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003334
A pressurized vessel designed to separate a mixed fluid stream from a well into its constituent phases, primarily oil, gas, and water. Separation is achieved using physical principles like gravity, where denser fluids settle to the bottom and lighter fluids rise to the top. Separators are classified as two-phase (gas from liquid) or three-phase (gas, oil, and water) and can be oriented horizontally or vertically.
