Separator backpressure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003335
The pressure maintained on the gas outlet of a production separator, which controls the operating pressure of the entire vessel. This pressure is regulated by a backpressure valve that opens or closes to manage the rate at which gas exits the system. Maintaining a specific backpressure influences the efficiency of liquid and gas separation and affects the flowing pressure of the wells connected upstream.
