Backpressure

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004231

The resistance to fluid flow in a wellbore or pipeline, exerted by downstream equipment or the pressure of the receiving system. This pressure opposes the flow from the reservoir, affecting the well's production rate. High backpressure can reduce hydrocarbon recovery and may necessitate artificial lift methods.
