Back-pressure valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000246
A one-way valve installed in the tubing hanger or tubing string that permits fluids to be pumped down the well but prevents flow from coming back up. This device maintains a pressure barrier in the tubing while surface equipment like the Christmas tree is being installed or removed. After its purpose is served, the valve is typically retrieved from the wellbore using wireline intervention.
