Neutralize
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002529
To adjust the pH of a drilling fluid or effluent to a value closer to 7, reducing its acidity or alkalinity. This is achieved by adding a chemical agent, such as an acid (e.g., hydrochloric acid) to a high-pH fluid or a base (e.g., caustic soda) to a low-pH fluid. The goal is to bring the fluid within a desired pH range for stability or environmental compliance.
