Alkalinity

A measure of the capacity of a drilling fluid to neutralize acids, expressed as the concentration of hydroxyl ions and other basic compounds. It indicates the fluid's buffering capacity and its ability to resist changes in pH. Alkalinity is commonly measured by titration with a standard acid.
