Phenolphthalein

An organic compound used as an indicator in drilling fluid titrations to determine alkalinity. It is colorless in acidic solutions and turns pink or fuchsia in alkaline solutions, typically above a pH of 8.2. This color change indicates the endpoint for certain alkalinity measurements, such as phenolphthalein alkalinity (P_f).
