Bromocresol green
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000468
A pH indicator dye used in the titration analysis of drilling fluid alkalinity and carbonate content. It changes color from blue to yellow as the pH of the sample drops below a transition range of approximately 3.8 to 5.4. In the standard API alkalinity test, the appearance of the yellow endpoint after adding sulfuric acid indicates that all carbonate and bicarbonate ions have been neutralized.
