Mf
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002344
The methyl orange alkalinity of a mud filtrate, found by titrating a filtrate sample with 0.02 N sulfuric acid until the methyl orange endpoint near pH 4.3 is reached. It is reported as millilitres of acid per millilitre of filtrate and includes the acid already used to reach the phenolphthalein endpoint, so Mf is never smaller than Pf. Together with Pf it gives an estimate of the hydroxide, carbonate and bicarbonate content of the filtrate.
