Titration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003855
A quantitative chemical analysis method used to determine the concentration of a specific substance in a drilling fluid sample. A solution of known concentration, the titrant, is added incrementally to the sample until a chemical reaction is complete, indicated by a color change from an indicator dye or an electrochemical signal. Common rig-site titrations measure the concentrations of chloride, calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity to maintain mud properties and detect formation fluid influx.
