TIV
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004476
An acronym for Transversely Isotropic with a Vertical axis of symmetry, describing a type of anisotropic medium where seismic wave velocities vary with direction but are symmetric around a vertical axis. This model is often used to represent layered sedimentary rocks where horizontal layering creates directional velocity differences. TIV anisotropy is characterized by five independent elastic constants.
