Eta (η)
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001332
A parameter in seismic anisotropy that describes the anellipticity of P-wave moveout for transversely isotropic media with a vertical symmetry axis. It quantifies the deviation from elliptical anisotropy, which is often observed in layered or fractured rocks. This parameter is derived from seismic velocity analysis and is used in time-to-depth conversion and imaging.
