TM
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003856
An abbreviation for transverse magnetic, a mode of electromagnetic wave propagation where the magnetic field vector is perpendicular to the direction of wave travel. In the context of electromagnetic logging tools used in wellbores, the TM mode is one of the fundamental wave types that can be excited and measured. The properties of TM waves as they propagate through rock formations are sensitive to formation resistivity and are used to evaluate fluid content and saturation.
