TE
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003776
An electromagnetic mode in which the electric field has no component along the direction of propagation. In magnetotellurics it is the polarization with the electric field parallel to geological strike and the magnetic field in the plane perpendicular to strike. Because the electric field is then tangential to vertical resistivity boundaries, no charges build up on them, so the response is smoother than that of the TM mode and the two are interpreted together.
