Titration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012088

A quantitative method in which a solution of known concentration, the titrant, is added from a burette in measured volumes to a sample until the reaction between them is stoichiometrically complete, a point called the equivalence point, which is detected by an indicator color change or by a pH or potential reading. The volume used, together with the reaction stoichiometry, gives the amount of analyte. Types include acid-base, redox, precipitation and complexometric titrations.
