Chloride test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000657
A chemical analysis performed on drilling fluid to determine the concentration of chloride ions. High chloride levels can indicate contamination from formation brines or saltwater influx, which can affect mud properties and corrosion rates. The test typically involves titration with silver nitrate and is reported in milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm).
