Openhole gravel pack
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002628
A sand control technique applied in an openhole completion where a permeable screen is run into the uncased reservoir section, and the annular space between the screen and the formation is packed with carefully sized gravel. The gravel acts as a filter, preventing the migration of formation sand into the wellbore while allowing hydrocarbons to flow. This method provides mechanical support and prevents sand production.
