Gravel-pack log

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001732

A cased-hole log run to evaluate the integrity and placement of a gravel pack used for sand control. The log uses acoustic or nuclear measurements to assess the density of the material in the annulus between the screen and the casing, distinguishing between a tightly packed gravel, voids, or settled sand. Common tools for this purpose include gamma ray density and neutron logs, which provide a qualitative or quantitative map of pack completeness around and along the production interval.
