Pascal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002718
The SI unit of pressure or stress, defined as one newton of force applied over an area of one square meter (N/m²). In drilling and reservoir engineering, pressure is a fundamental parameter for fluid calculations, formation strength analysis, and equipment ratings. Because the pascal is a very small unit, measurements are more practically expressed in kilopascals (kPa) or megapascals (MPa), where 1 bar equals 100 kPa and standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 101.3 kPa.
