Quartile
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003017
One of three points that divide a sorted dataset into four equal groups, each containing 25% of the data. The first quartile (Q1) is the 25th percentile, the second quartile (Q2) is the median (50th percentile), and the third quartile (Q3) is the 75th percentile. Quartiles are used in reservoir characterization to describe the spread and central tendency of reservoir properties, such as permeability or porosity distributions.
