Extended spread
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001357
A seismic acquisition geometry where the distance between the source and receivers is significantly larger than in conventional spreads, allowing for longer travel paths and deeper penetration of seismic energy. This configuration is used to image deeper geological targets and to obtain more detailed velocity information. Extended spreads can involve offsets of several kilometers.
