Reserve pit

An excavated pit near the drilling rig used to store drilling fluids, cuttings, and other waste materials generated during drilling operations. It serves as a temporary containment area before the waste is treated, recycled, or disposed of according to environmental regulations. Modern drilling often uses closed-loop systems to minimize pit use.
