Sack
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003221
A standard unit of measure for drilling fluid additives, referring to a bag of dry material. The weight of a sack varies by product; for example, a sack of barite weighs 100 pounds (approximately 45.4 kg), while a sack of bentonite weighs 50 pounds (approximately 22.7 kg). Calculations for mud formulations and treatments are based on the number of sacks of each additive required per barrel or per unit volume of drilling fluid.
