Sabkha

A coastal or inland evaporitic flat, typically found in arid or semi-arid regions, characterized by the precipitation of evaporite minerals like gypsum, anhydrite, and halite. These environments can preserve organic matter and form source rocks or create porous carbonate and evaporite reservoir rocks. Modern sabkhas are common along the Arabian Gulf coast.
