Seismograph

An instrument that detects and records ground motion caused by seismic waves. It consists of a sensor, often a geophone or hydrophone, that converts ground displacement or pressure changes into an electrical signal, and a recording device. Modern seismographs are digital and record data for later processing and analysis.
