Trip gas
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003918
Gas that enters the wellbore from the formation during a trip out of the hole, as the hydrostatic pressure of the drilling fluid is reduced. As drill pipe is removed, the fluid level in the well drops, lowering the pressure exerted on the formation. This influx of gas can be a precursor to a kick if not properly managed.
