Trip pill

A small volume of high-viscosity, weighted drilling fluid pumped into the drill string before tripping out of the hole. Its purpose is to increase the hydrostatic pressure in the annulus and prevent a swab-induced influx of formation fluids. The pill's density and volume are calculated based on well conditions.
