Wiper trip
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004164
The process of pulling the drill string out of the wellbore and then running it back in, usually over a specific interval that is showing signs of instability. This action is performed to ream the hole, clean out cuttings beds, and condition the mud and the wellbore wall to mitigate problems like tight spots or excessive torque and drag. A wiper trip does not involve pulling the entire drill string to the surface, distinguishing it from a full round trip.
