Underpressure

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003980

A condition where the pore fluid pressure within a rock formation is significantly lower than the normal hydrostatic pressure for its depth. This can result from rapid uplift and erosion, fluid withdrawal, or diagenetic processes. Underpressure can lead to wellbore stability issues, such as lost circulation, during drilling operations.
