Geopressured

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001689

Describing a subsurface rock formation where the pore fluid pressure is significantly higher than the normal hydrostatic pressure for that depth. These overpressured zones often result from rapid sedimentation, tectonic compression, or fluid expansion due to heating. Drilling into geopressured formations requires careful planning and specialized drilling fluids to maintain well control.
