Wait time

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004073

The delay in NMR logging between the end of one CPMG echo train and the start of the next, during which the protons regain their equilibrium magnetization in the tool's static field. Its length sets how much longitudinal magnetization recovers, so long-T1 fluids such as gas and light oil need long waits to be fully polarized, while short waits favor small pores and bound fluid. It is written TW and typically lasts from a fraction of a second to several seconds.
