Polarization time
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004416
The duration for which a static magnetic field is applied to a formation before a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurement sequence begins. This period allows hydrogen nuclei within the formation fluids to align, or polarize, with the tool's magnetic field. A longer polarization time results in a stronger initial signal, which is particularly necessary to fully measure fluids in large pores that have long relaxation times.
