Polarization horn
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004415
A sharp, spurious spike on an induction log curve that appears at the boundary between a highly resistive bed and an adjacent conductive bed. This logging artifact is caused by the electromagnetic field behavior at the interface and does not represent a true formation property. Polarization horns were characteristic of older induction tools and are largely suppressed by the processing algorithms used with modern multi-array induction instruments.
