Water-based drilling fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004103
A drilling fluid system where water is the primary liquid phase, carrying suspended solids and dissolved chemicals. These fluids are commonly used for their environmental advantages and lower cost compared to oil-based systems. Additives such as clays, polymers, and weighting agents control rheology, fluid loss, and wellbore stability.
