Electrostatic discharge
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000110
The sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. In semiconductor manufacturing, electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage sensitive electronic components, leading to device failure or latent defects. Control measures include grounding personnel and equipment, using anti-static materials, and maintaining proper humidity levels.
