Ionizer
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000378
A device that generates positive and negative ions to neutralize static electrical charges on surfaces and in the air within a cleanroom environment. This neutralization prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) events that can damage sensitive semiconductor devices and reduces the attraction of airborne particulate contaminants to wafers and equipment. Ionizers typically employ corona discharge or alpha radiation sources to produce the necessary ions.
