Interconnect
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000377
The network of conductive pathways, typically made of metals like copper or aluminum, that electrically connect different components and transistors within an integrated circuit. These pathways are arranged in multiple layers separated by insulating dielectric materials. The performance of an integrated circuit is heavily dependent on the resistance and capacitance of its interconnects, which can limit signal propagation speed and increase power consumption.
