ASTM additive manufacturing processes

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000023

A classification system developed by ASTM International (ASTM F42 Committee) that categorizes additive manufacturing technologies into seven distinct types based on their material feedstock and how layers are formed. These categories include material extrusion, vat photopolymerization, powder bed fusion, binder jetting, material jetting, sheet lamination, and directed energy deposition. This standardization provides a common language for the industry.
