Beam diameter
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000028
The measured width of a laser or electron beam at its focal point, which is directed onto a material bed in powder bed fusion processes. This dimension directly influences the resolution and feature size achievable in a printed part. A typical beam diameter in selective laser melting ranges from 50 to 100 micrometers.
