Laser engineered net shaping

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000194

An additive manufacturing process that uses a high-power laser to melt powdered metal as it is deposited through a nozzle, creating a solid object layer by layer. This technique, often abbreviated as LENS, is a form of directed energy deposition (DED) and is suitable for repairing or adding features to existing metal components. It can process a range of metals, including titanium and stainless steel alloys.
