Accommodation coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000112

The fraction of collisions of gas molecules, atoms or radicals with an aerosol particle or cloud droplet that end with the molecule being taken up by the particle instead of bouncing back from its surface. It is a dimensionless number between 0 and 1. It is also called the sticking coefficient, and the uptake coefficient of a gas on a droplet cannot exceed it.
